Works to general supervisory instruction, charts, manual, and flow diagrams, applying specialized training in wastewater treatment technology

Operates, monitors and oversees a variety of equipment to treat or remove such wastes or contaminants such as cyanides, chromes, acids, alkalis, volatile organic compounds, and floor spills from work areas.

Monitors operation of instrumentation and recorders during treatment to measure, control and record oxidation reduction potential.

Implements immediate corrective measures where recorder and/or alarm system signals a potential upset

Takes required samples and measurements; makes requirement chemical analyses.

Maintains cleanliness of wastewater treatment areas.

Takes emergency action to clear chemical lines and piping, services valves and pumps, proportions feeders and mixers

Calibrates and maintains pH and ORP chemical controllers, electrodes, flow and control equipment. Determines and prepares appropriates ratios of chemical mixes for batch treatment.

Participates on chemical, hazardous waste, and bloodborne pathogens spill response team.

Performs general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools and equipment.

Maintains records and moves material

Follows Safety rules in performance of duties

Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
Qualifications You Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent
-
Active Class IV Full Industrial Waste Treatment Operator’s License or higher as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Be able to successfully pass a hazmat/respiratory physical exam

U.S. Citizenship status is required as a U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer
-
Advanced academic instruction in chemistry, bacteriology, or wastewater treatment and technology.

Ongoing technical hours as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
-
Computer skills
-
Experience with WWT issues in a complex manufacturing facility

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
Clearance Information: This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
