Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Bay City GPS on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Quality Systems in areas as assigned. This role will work independently under general direction of a supervisor. Work involves a considerable amount of perception and initiative to make decisions. Provide support to manufacturing floor including, but not limited to, responding to gage failures, assisting with root cause investigation, initiating containments, disposition of out of process material. Represent and implement Quality Systems on an off shift
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):· Lead or work within teams to develop and implement Quality Systems and procedures for the program including, but not limited to, operator support tracking sheet (OSTS), process control plans, product quality standards, PFMEAs, gaging and inspection processes and defect prevention and reduction.
· Support the Manufacturing Quality Readiness Review (MQRR) audit process and plant launch operations wall (PLOW).
· Act as a Voice of Quality.
· Support the implementation of GMS and BIQ principles into the launch.
· Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project.
· Act as a training coordinator regarding part and product quality and provide technical assistance to team members.
· Regular contact with others outside the work group.
· Actively seeks opportunities to drive change and continuous improvement with current practices and processes.
· Strives to expand professional knowledge and development through available training and certifications (i.e., Red X, OpEx, etc.).
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
· 3 years of Quality Engineering experience.
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
· High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
· Well-developed oral and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to large groups and varying levels of management.
· Ability to work off-shift and over-time as needed.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
· Knowledge of GM Quality Systems and requirements.
· Experience with GMS.
· Process and product knowledge of manufacturing.
· Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, GD&T, math data, gage reports and other engineering documentation.
· Proficiency and knowledge of the requirements in the Global Quality Manual.
