The
Senior IT Business Analyst - Analytics role serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and IT by translating data, reporting, and analytics needs into clear, actionable requirements and scalable solutions. The Sr. Analyst, IT Business ensures analytics platforms, reporting capabilities, and data products are effectively leveraged to provide reliable metrics, meaningful insights, and decision support that enable operational execution, performance management, and strategic planning across the business.

- Supervisory: May supervise IT Support Teams, Service Operations Personnel, or contractors
- Peer Relationships: Sr. Business Relationship Manager, Infrastructure Engineer, Sr. IT Service Manager
- Key contacts: IT Leadership Team, Internal user community, external IT service providers, internal audit, cross‑functional business partners, leadership, and management in multiple business areas.
Here's What You'll Be Doing
Demand Management
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather, assess, and manage data and analytics requirements in alignment with business priorities and established IT processes.
- Facilitate prioritization of analytics requests based on business value, technical feasibility, resource availability, and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with business partners to develop business cases and support demand intake, evaluation, and decision-making.
- Partner with business owners to refine scope, clarify priorities, and manage expectations throughout the request lifecycle.
- Educate users on platform capabilities, limitations, and best practices to improve solution adoption and effective use.
Analytics Requirements & Solution Definition
- Proactively engage with business stakeholders to understand business needs, pain points, data requirements, and desired outcomes
- Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, business rules, use cases, and acceptance criteria for technical teams.
- Document current-state and future-state processes, data requirements, assumptions, and dependencies to support solution design and implementation.
- Partners with architects, data engineers, data scientists, developers, and other IT colleagues design fit-for-purpose data and analytics solutions and evaluate design trade-offs.
Delivery and Support
- Lead projects and enhancements to implement, optimize, or expand analytics solutions across analytics platforms, including dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data flows.
- Coordinate testing activities, including system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), to validate that solutions meet business requirements and quality expectations.
- Support stabilization of deployed solutions by troubleshooting issues, monitoring performance, and coordinating resolution of defects or enhancement needs.
- Coordinate transition of analytics solutions for ongoing support, including documentation, knowledge transfer, and collaboration with support teams and end users.
- Monitor user adoption and solution effectiveness after deployment and identify opportunities for enhancement or continuous improvement based on feedback and business needs.
Governance, Standards, Quality, and Continuous Improvement
- Promote adherence to company data standards, governance expectations, and analytics processes and practices.
- Support data quality, reporting accuracy, and validation activities to improve consistency, trust, and usability of analytics outputs.
- Drive continuous improvement of analytics solutions, processes, and documentation to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and user experience.
Innovation
- Assess new vendor-released features and capabilities to determine their applicability and value in improving analytics platforms and business outcomes.
- Evaluate and pilot new analytics capabilities, tools, or approaches to determine feasibility, business value, and potential for broader adoption.
- Monitor emerging analytics tools, market trends, and identify potential use cases that could improve automation, reporting efficiency, insight generation, or user experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related technical field. Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related technical field is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in IT, analytics, business analysis, data analysis, or a related field.
- Experience partnering with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and translate business needs into functional requirements and solution recommendations.
- Strong data and analytics skills, including experience with SQL, data manipulation, data flows, integration of multiple data sources, and reporting or data visualization tools.
- Experience supporting analytics solutions such as dashboards, reports, scorecards, or other data products through requirements, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
- Knowledge of data quality, reporting validation, and governance practices that support accurate, consistent, and reliable analytics outputs.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or preferred similar technologies.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
- Experience with analytics tools or programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar technologies preferred.
- Experience using data analysis or data mining techniques to support business insights and decision-making preferred.
- Certifications related to data analytics, business analysis, or reporting tools (for example, CompTIA Data+ or similar) preferred.
- ITIL Foundation or similar service management certification preferred.
Salary Range: $145,120 - $181,400
Salary pay ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, certifications, qualifications, relevant education or training, and local market conditions.
