Description:Function
Set up and operate a variety of semi-automatic milling machines to perform any semi-complex machining operation on diversified types and forms of materials including those on new or changed parts where methods and control tapes are available.
Typical Responsibilities
Follow general instructions, standard practices, complicated drawings, operation sheets, tape read-out sheets, and other written and oral instructions to plan, layout, set up and perform any standard machining operation.
Input operations data into control panel as required.
Recommend tape changes within standard practices to Supervision or Manufacturing Engineering.
Perform set up and operation of established machining operations using available tapes.
Use all standard and prescribed tools, fixtures, holding devices and other attachments to set up for rough and finish machining.
Adapt ordinary holding devices and other attachments to individual job requirements within limits of standard practices.
Make necessary machine and tooling adjustments to maintain proper depth, width and location.
Manually control the feed and speed rates when necessary.
Plan, layout, set up and perform any standard milling, drilling, boring, threading, undercutting, tapping, and reaming operations.
Occasionally break-in other employees as required.
Perform similar or related duties on conventional and semi-automatic milling machines as required.
Maintain quality standards by checking work visually and with basic measuring instruments; record data manually or electronically as required.
Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level, including deburring, polishing and part marking.
Remedy any ordinary difficulties within standard practices and perform rework as required.
Refer tape errors and only non-standard problem conditions or recurring difficulties to working leader or supervision.
Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.
As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Please Note: This is for a Second Shift role.
Basic Qualifications:Requires ability to use shop mathematics, tables and handbook formulas, work from complicated drawings and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier height gage, calipers, bevel protractor, dial indicators, etc.
May occasionally require limited use of advanced shop mathematics.
Requires well-rounded knowledge of milling methods, machine shop practice, tools and cutting qualities of various metals.
Equivalent to 2 years high school plus 2 to 3 years trades training.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
