Business Analyst-Contractor
Position Summary:
This role serves as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and IT, responsible for translating high-level business needs into actionable, detailed technical and functional specifications. The candidate will drive the requirement lifecycle—from elicitation and process mapping to creating user stories and system flow diagrams—while actively monitoring project progress to ensure successful delivery of business objectives.
Responsibilities
Analyze, translate and communicate business requirements back to development team, through BRDs, detailed process flows, diagrams, use cases, and user stories.
Elicit, compile, document, and manage clear and testable functional and technical requirements by being an active leader, using a variety of elicitation methods such as interviewing, workshops, business processes, and workflow review.
Responsible for highly effective verbal and written communication within the effort (project team, stakeholders, and sponsors), and with leadership, building trusted relationships through assignments.
Perform functional and technical requirements traceability throughout project lifecycle to validate that product meets the approved requirements; manage changing requirements and priorities; support the testing process through completion and promotion to production
Responsible for maintaining skills within the profession that will allow for proactive assessment of effort needs and completing business analysis deliverables.
Understand, support, and contribute to the organization’s strategy and contribute ideas and feedback within the department.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience in related role
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
Experience in both Waterfall and Agile and creating deliverables that are specific to those methodologies (e.g. BRDs/ Features, Epics and User Stories with Acceptance Criteria). Understanding the Product Owner role and associated tasks.
Proficiency in process mapping techniques and methodologies: Experience and understanding of process mapping techniques, such as swim lane diagrams, flowcharts, and value stream mapping. Familiarity with BlueWorks Live and Aris is a plus.
Forward-thinking with a desire to incorporate GenAI tools into daily work, with skills in prompt engineering being a plus.
Experience in working with ServiceNow modules and using it and/or Jira for documenting requirements is desired
