This Estimating & Pricing (E&P) Specialist role will provide functional support and business partnering to a diverse portfolio of new business opportunities and campaigns across the BDUK organisation. Working in partnership with stakeholders this role offers exciting opportunities including the development of accurate cost and pricing models, implementing pricing and risk mitigation strategies, enhancing our competitive advantage, creating enduring and profitable business propositions, and optimising the use of available data for improvement initiatives.
The role sits within the E&P Team, taking leadership and guidance from the Head of E&P, and under management by the wider Commercial Function. The principal responsibility of the role will be to provide estimating and pricing support for contract change and amendment proposals of varying sizes and complexity to our customer, and into other parts of the Boeing enterprise as part of intercompany arrangements. As part of a dynamic and flexible team the role will also support priority campaigns, implementation of functional improvements, opportunities for greater cross-functional collaboration and identifying business benefits.
This is a full-time position based at our Bristol site, offering a hybrid working model that typically includes three days in the office each week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop estimates and pricing for contract change and amendment proposals of varying sizes and complexity
- Collaborate effectively with internal functions to guide pricing approach, ensure process compliance, support BoE quality, and manage multiple stakeholder relationships across projects
- Perform detailed analysis in support of key pricing and estimating aspects (e.g. risk, financial)
- Incorporate data into and maintain structured systems and accurate internal reporting
- Develop routine estimating and pricing methods
- Develop and maintain pricing models of varying sizes and complexity
- Support the development, application and maintenance of accurate rates and factors for estimating, pricing, and proposals
- Assist with compliance, policy and procedure development, and maintenance and development of systems and tools
- Consolidate pricing information and lead presentation at governance reviews
- Provide day-to-day guidance and training to graduates on lower complexity contract change and amendment proposals
- Support and lead the compilation and calculation of appropriate risks & uncertainty for proposals
- Develop and manage E&P artefacts for proposals (e.g. AAR packs), determining required items and verifying their accuracy and compliance
- Support customer interactions on clarification questions, cost assurance audits and cost model verification
- Support the post-submission transition to the Finance Operations team
Competencies:
- Highly numerate; excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel, including cost modelling, Power Query, data analysis, data manipulation and scenario modelling
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - able to discuss and present information simply for internal and external stakeholders
- Dedicated and proactive individual who provides clear, concise, comprehensive and accurate costing and pricing information
- A positive and collaborative work attitude and team building approach
- Adaptable and resourceful in delivering first-time quality; able to act fast and effectively in a dynamic environment, to manage a range of priorities with a diverse, fast-paced, high workload
- Ability to train and support others
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Excel
- Demonstrable experience working in a matrix organization
- 1 to 2 years of experience supporting finance or commercial operations
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Educated to degree level, preferably in a mathematical, financial or business-related discipline
- Prior experience of pricing bid and proposal activity
- Prior experience of contracting with the UK Ministry of Defence or equivalent
- 1 to 3 years of working experience within a defence or aerospace prime contractor, or equivalent
