What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney Asheville is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

In this position, the candidate’s primary role will be to support the shop floor. A Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for reviewing procedures, specifications, work instructions, and equipment to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System. Responsibilities include:
-
Adhering to all duties and responsibilities of a Quality Engineer II and III
-
Working under limited to no supervision
-
Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
-
Orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing the work of lower‑level employees
-
Consistently managing self‑assigned (and occasionally team‑assigned) tasks and executing them without management or engineering reminders
-
Reducing customer escapes by identifying non‑conformance drivers, implementing mistake‑proofing solutions, and monitoring process fallout rates
-
Providing data on material with corrective actions to evaluate their effectiveness
-
Supplying hardware failure history and fallout rates to Business Units and other Quality and Manufacturing Engineers
-
Acting as a liaison between sister plants and supporting other engineers as needed
-
Contributing to PFMEA and control plan reviews
-
Dispositioning product based on business needs to the lowest achievable level
-
Leading, conducting, and analyzing results for MSA/GRR
-
Inspecting and guiding operations and inspectors on the appropriate course of action throughout all stages of the manufacturing process
-
Investigating quality issues to identify root cause, initiating corrective actions, and ensuring issues are addressed and resolved
-
Supporting regular inspection and departmental meetings to establish action plans for improving build quality
-
Developing and implementing process improvements
-
Complying with and supporting health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures
-
Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
US Citizenship required due to government contracts
-
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in an engineering role
-
OR a master’s degree and 5+ years in an engineering role
-
Understanding of metrology and ability to use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, dial indicators, linear scales)
-
Ability to learn new measuring techniques
-
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
-
Ability to stay on task and make informed decisions
-
Capability to think methodically and creatively
-
Detail‑oriented and dedicated to accuracy
-
Ability to read and follow directions, operational standards, and interpret drawings
-
Ability to work independently or within a team with minimal supervision
-
Schedule flexibility to work overtime occasionally / as needed
Qualifications We Prefer:
-
Engineering degree (aerospace, industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, quality)
-
Understanding of Pratt & Whitney’s Quality Procedures, Quality Management Systems, and use of CORE tools
-
Experience with Solumina and SAP
-
Demonstrated root‑cause analysis skills (Red‑X, Fault Tree, etc.)
-
Experience in aerospace machining, forgings, castings, or composites
-
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
-
Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements
-
Experience establishing and maintaining a quality management system, ideally AS9100

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
