The Research Associate scientist will be a key member of the Translational Development Team in Cambridge, MA, utilizing high-dimensional spatial and genomic profiling tools to address translational knowledge gaps across our development pipelines. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in one or more of these areas, strong foundational lab skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet project goals.
Position Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot spatial profiling instruments (Phenocycler Fusion, Visium, and related platforms)
- Prepare samples and reagents, including validation and slide preparation
- Support genomic and histological assay workflows
- Maintain accurate records, manage reagent/sample inventory, and perform routine data transfers
- Assist in the development and optimization of new spatial technology reagents and protocols
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics, math, computer sciences, or related fields
- 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience
- Quick learner with genuine openness to new technologies and methodologies
- Excellent hands-on technical and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and quality
- Effective and timely communication skills with both peers and senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to meet project goals and timelines
- Experience in a collaborative team environment.
Must Have List
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics, math, computer sciences, or related fields
- 3 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory
- Preferred: Prior experience with spatial technologies (e.g., Phenocycler/CODEX, COMET, Visium, CosMx, Xenium, or equivalent platforms), genomics (e.g., scRNA-seq, Illumina Next Generation Sequencing), or histology workflows (e.g., multiplex IF/IHC/ISH on autostainer) ? training will be provided for the right candidate
- Quick learner with an openness to adopting new technologies
Must have/Preferred ? Spatial & Advanced Profiling (Primary Preference):
- Hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics or proteomics platforms, including one or more of: Phenocycler/CODEX (Akoya), COMET (Lunaphore), Visium (10x Genomics), CosMx (NanoString/Bruker), Xenium (10x Genomics), or comparable technologies
- Familiarity with spatial assay workflows: antibody panel design, staining optimization, and image acquisition/analysis
- Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) or bulk RNA/DNA sequencing using Illumina platforms
- Familiarity with library preparation, sequencing workflows, DV200 test
Preferred ? Histology/Pathology, Cell Culture (Secondary Preference):
- Experience with multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF), IHC, or ISH workflows, particularly on automated autostainer platforms (e.g., Leica Bond, Ventana)
- Basic proficiency in mammalian culture and standard laboratory assays including single cell cloning, CRISPR-Cas9, protein immunoblot and flow cytometry (4 channels).
Working Conditions
- The position is primarily in a laboratory environment and may involve working with hazardous materials, including human tissue and blood samples
- Adherence to all relevant safety protocols and BMS laboratory standards is required
100% onsite
