The Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a Components Engineer to join our multi disciplined team in Largo, FL or Marlborough, MA location. Mission Systems Engineering leads the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. Responsibilities include working as a team member with a challenging concentration in the mechanical and electrical design of circuit cards and required housings for protected communications systems.
The Senior Components Engineer will ensure that all aspects of Parts Control and Standardization Plans are implemented and executed. The Senior Components Engineer shall be capable of reviewing datasheets and comparing technical characteristics of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and providing recommendations of potential alternate part replacements. The Senior Components Engineer will generate piece part documentation of various forms for procurement purposes; submit required program reports; develop and implement a Parts Control Plan.
What You Will Do:

You will also provide Parts Obsolescence support including leading investigations on obsolescence issues, may participate in trade studies, determination of best mitigation approaches, and implementation of risk mitigation approaches.

You will drive the technical obsolescence mitigation process for a program, keeping detailed action logs updated with rationale for the technical approach and may direct or oversee tasks of some members of the team.

You will have a good understanding of detailed mechanical/electrical design layouts and design documentation using Computer Aided Design tools.

You will have financial reporting responsibilities, including periodic earned value inputs, workload planning, and support proposals as required. Some travel may be needed for installation and design verification.
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Background in components engineering, including guiding component selection
-
Experience creating and peer reviewing procurement control drawings such as Source Control Drawings or Vendor Item Control Drawings

Experience in Broad based Mechanical / Electrical Hardware engineering
-
Experience with obsolescence reporting and tracking
-
Strong working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar engineering field) with a minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience

Understanding of Tin Whisker Risk, Gold Embrittlement Risk, and experience with Tin Whisker / Gold Embrittlement Mitigation Plans for military applications

Experience in understanding qualification requirements for military applications, and familiarity of requirements for Hardness Critical Items

Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings

Experience with program and project tasks, including managing cost and schedule as well as associated reporting

Experience in development of technical and cost proposals

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
