The Solutions Architecture Leader for Special Projects will lead a team of architects responsible for researching, developing, and integrating cyber-compliant, standardized system solutions using innovative designs to enhance execution efficiency and the capabilities of digitally supported programs. This group of Solutions Architects will work projects within the scope of the larger Solutions Architecture team, as well as special projects across RTX classified programs and spaces. This role requires a proven leader with experience managing geographically dispersed technical teams and driving the development, design and governance of solutions for secure IT solutions.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership, direction and mentorship to a highly skilled team, guiding the architecture of complex IT solutions within secure, classified environments. This position plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining scalable, compliant and resilient system architectures that align with organizational and mission objectives. This role will serve as a senior technical team member capable of creating IT roadmaps aligning with business requirements and long-term plans. This position requires a deep technical breadth, strong leadership, and the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, cybersecurity and program management. They must be capable of assisting with identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex system problems, to develop and recommend courses of action where needed.
What You Will Do
- Guide the team in researching, developing, documenting, and modernizing enterprise technology standards across evolving system environments.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Cybersecurity and Integration teams, to architect secure, scalable solutions, providing leadership and execution support for compliance initiatives and operational readiness.
- Guide architectural decisions that modernize platforms, reduce technical debt, and enhance system resilience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key technology vendors to support solution delivery and innovation. .
- Manage and develop a high-performing team of network architects, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management to drive architectural excellence.
What You Will Learn
- Full lifecycle of systems and a broad spectrum of capabilities at a major defense and aerospace company
- Integration of technology within constraints of air-gapped or highly secure environments.
- How to synthesize business and technical perspectives to develop actionable solutions
- The ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification within 6 months of hiring if not currently certified.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience
- Experience leading teams in technology environments, either in IT/DT, Engineering, or other STEM discipline environments.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure technologies such as server operating systems, server hardware, storage, networks, virtualization, encryption, and security, archival systems and clients.
- Experience with Government security controls including NISPOM, JAFAN, ICD 503, RMF, JSIG, etc.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Understanding of secure software supply chains and lifecycle practices, including procurement, build, scanning, deployment, and patching

Ability to accurately express and articulate technical ideas, technical data and process steps in written, graphical and spoken dialogue to all levels of stakeholders and leadership.

Exhibit an understanding of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and DoDAF

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
