The WorkLockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time, highly motivated Systems Engineer to join the Submarine C5I Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) program. The role supports the Architecture Platform as a Service (PaaS) team and the Common Compute Environment (CCE) software product. Primary responsibilities include developing clear high‑level system requirements and narratives, as well as capturing design and development related changes as the product evolves. The Systems Engineer will collaborate closely with the PaaS software development team and interact with subsystem stakeholders to gather feedback and refine SE artifacts. This position blends high-level requirements analysis, technical writing, and practical problem-solving within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, contributing directly to the advancement of submarine C5I capabilities.
Who You AreKey Responsibilities:
• Assist in authoring system level requirements and their supporting narratives, ensuring clear and testable specifications.
• Contribute to the CCE development guide, defining the procedures and best practices that enable collaborators to integrate with the CCE.
• Assist in version control and configuration management activities for all SE artifacts—including requirements, the CCE Development Guide, and related documentation—to keep them current with design and development updates.
• Serve as a liaison to subsystem stakeholders, proactively soliciting feedback, addressing inquiries, and incorporating stakeholder input into the SE artifacts.
• Partner with the PaaS development team during integration activities, translating observed issues and design decisions into updated SE documentation.
• Conduct systems engineering analyses—estimating node storage, CCE resource needs, and performance/reliability—to forecast the CCE’s composition and capacity and inform design decisions.
• Support the PaaS development team’s effort to embed Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) into their routine workflow.
• Partner with the SE&I Execution team to manage baseline updates, ensuring that changes related to baseline deliverables and documentation are accurately incorporated.
• Collaborate with the test automation team to define verification methods for requirements, contribute to review cycles, and ensure that validation activities align with the evolving baseline.
• Follow lead provided guidance, adhere to established processes, and uphold procedural rigor while actively identifying and proposing process improvement opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and act as a collaborative team player.

Basic Qualifications:To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) security clearance; this position will require a government security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field) from an accredited institution; or 2+ years of comparable professional experience.
• Demonstrated professional experience in requirements development, technical writing, and/or verification/validation.
• Demonstrated ability to follow structured engineering processes and procedures (e.g., change control, configuration management, etc.).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders with a high degree of technical and interpersonal competency.
Desired Skills:• Familiarity with Kubernetes (K8s) environments, especially cloud-native or container-based platforms.
• Experience with submarine combat systems or similar Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5I) systems.
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence products, including experience with agile project planning, issue tracking, and collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and tools.
• Experience working on teams in a geographically dispersed and virtual environments.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
