Senior Communications Consultant
Role Summary:
The Senior Communications Consultant serves as a strategic advisor and storyteller, responsible for developing and executing integrated communications that advance organizational priorities, strengthen brand reputation, and support executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development of internal and external communications strategies for enterprise initiatives (e.g., brand, experience, AI adoption, community engagement)
- Draft executive-level messaging, including leadership briefs, talking points, and enterprise-wide communications
- Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
- Manage communications plans for key moments (announcements, events, partnerships, and issues management)
- Monitor engagement and effectiveness of communications, recommending adjustments to improve reach and impact

PURPOSE
The Sr Corporate Communications Consultant executes and develops corporate communications strategies that keep the target audience engaged and informed. They execute tactics using a strategic mix of communication channels. The Sr Consultant is the primary lead for developing strategic communication plans in support of highlevel special projects and corporate or divisional initiatives. This role presents communications strategies at executive meetings and mentors less experienced team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
40% - Leads the development and implementation of the marketing and communication strategy across various audiences and channels. Works closely with business divisions to understand opportunities and priorities to provide strategic oversight and direction of various communications need which may be anticipated or unplanned.
35% - Leads the development and amplification of strategic communications, including but not limited to tactical printed marketing materials, digital communications (website, social media, etc.) presentations, thought leadership, talking points, go-to-market campaigns and more.
15% - Direct and work in conjunction with all support resources including but not limited to Business Divisions, Marketing Communications, Brand, Product, Public Relations, Strategic Research, Legal and Compliance
10% - Serves as a mentor to communication consultants

Problem Complexity and Problem-Solving Timeframes
Provides resolution to an assortment of problems that are typically well defined, but some clarification or judgment is required to determine action, as additional information about the problem / task is discovered. Uses judgment within defined practices / procedures to determine appropriate action. Problem/Task resolution timeframe: Inclusive of shorter timeframes, but the majority of tasks take up to several weeks to resolve.
Level of Supervision Received
Uses policies and general objectives with little functional guidance. Rarely refers specific cases to manager unless clarification or interpretation of organization policies is involved.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Education Details: communications, journalism, marketing or a related field
Experience: 8 years professional communications experience
In Lieu of Education
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of sales and/or health insurance experience
Good understanding of healthcare trends
An understanding of government regulations and experience dealing with government regulations
