Machine Corner Supervisor

This role is Second Shift
General Purpose of Position:
Lead and supervise a staff responsible for the CNC manufacturing of full size and scale properties, and components for Creative Design. The position requires oversight of a large 2-shift CNC operation, staffed with UAW journeypersons using Siemens NX CAD/CAM applications and CNC machining technology. The work is technical, organizational, and administrative in nature using people skills, computer applications and advanced technologies.
Requires applicant to supervise 2nd shift on a rotational basis for no more than 6 months a year.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Exhibits a safety mindset while identifying, taking ownership, and resolving safety concerns and supporting the safety champions of each space in Design Center and GM Partners. Conducts safety talks, safe operating instruction, pre-task planning and safety incident reporting & investigations
- Demonstrate behaviors that support diversity and inclusion within the organization
- Leads daily team meetings, communicates shop operation line-ups, and participates in GMS reviews and audits
- Knowledgeable on GMS principles Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost and Environment (SPQRCE)
- Develops standardize work, TIS’s and conducts annual staff reviews
- Supports DCF team members and supervisors from other Design Fabrication Shops
- Plans and schedules maintenance of equipment and tools associated to CNC machining technologies
- Analyze requests and communicate with customers on cost, timing, and alternative fabrication processes
- Apply software applications related to Computer Aided Design, Machining, Data Management, and workflow tracking
- Interface with Design Fabrication customer base, Fabrication Engineering, Project Team and Facility Operations
- Promote and foster an environment which encourages team member involvement, soliciting suggestions, training plans, and continuous improvement
- Communicate operational costs, material consumption and project costs
Required:
- Minimum of 7 years of combined experience with applied CAD/CAM technologies and supervision
- Worked as a journeyman in an apprenticable trade in wood, die or metal model making
- Experience and technical knowledge of processes and equipment used in CNC Machining and Prototype Model Making
- Ability to research, recommend and integrate new CNC manufacturing tooling and technology
- Knowledgeable in interpreting and validating 3D math files and engineering drawings
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems
- Proficient in NX CAM, Drafting, Team Center and familiarity with NX CAD
- Familiarity with CNC machine tools and controls, i.e... HAAS, Fanuc or Heidenhain
- Experienced in participating on multiple teams working on a variety of concurrent projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage an exceptionally high workload, while being very innovative and displaying outstanding initiative
- In depth knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and the ability to articulate and positively influence those processes
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Strong ability to work independently, and effectively with others
- A high level of project management skills
- Applied work experience with multiple fabrication disciplines; metal, wood, plastics, composites etc.…
- Capable of drafting standardized work and task instruction sheets and functional understanding of GMS Principles
- Participate as required in union meetings/negotiations, resolve any labor or staff issues
- Knowledgeable with UAW 160 local and national contracts
