Lynch Consultants is seeking a military uniformed officer that is transitioning to the next phase in life and ready to learn more about the federal financial consulting practice. You will be challenged and pick up new skills. You will support Military Service and Defense Agency clients across a broad range of Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) and Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) initiatives. You'll leverage your operational financial management experience to solve complex challenges, engage directly with senior civilian and military stakeholders, and develop expertise across the defense consulting landscape.
Approximately two-thirds of your time will be dedicated to hands-on client consulting, while the remaining one-third will be spent working alongside the firm's Managing Partners and Directors on corporate strategy, business operations, and practice development. This unique combination provides unmatched exposure to both client delivery and the business of consulting, creating significant opportunities for long-term career growth.
Location:
This opportunity will be onsite at our office in Arlington, VA or on client site in the National Capital Region, 5-days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Department of Defense and Defense Agency clients on resource management, financial management, and business transformation initiatives.
- Perform financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, audit readiness, internal controls, and resource planning activities.
- Contribute to OCFO and OCIO modernization initiatives that improve organizational performance and mission effectiveness.
- Analyze business processes and develop recommendations that improve financial operations and decision-making.
- Prepare executive-level briefings, reports, analyses, and other client deliverables.
- Collaborate directly with military leaders, senior civilians, and client stakeholders across multiple organizations.
- Participate in corporate strategic initiatives, internal operations, business development, and practice growth activities alongside firm leadership.
- Build consulting, leadership, and client engagement skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a closely related field.
- 10-15+ years of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), Army, Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC), Navy Rating, Marine MOS, or Coast Guard Rating experience in a financial management role, such as:
- Budget Management
- Accounting
- Financial Analysis
- Payroll
- Audit
- Resource Management
- Comptroller Operations
- Active DoD Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Currently serving in or recently transitioning from a military financial management career field through the DoD SkillBridge Program.
- Located in, or willing to relocate to, the National Capital Region (Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community financial management organizations.
- DoD Financial Management Certification (Level I or higher).
- One or more professional certifications, including:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
- Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM)
