Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry Level Engineering Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical technical support across multiple high-priority contracts for the Navy, Coast Guard, Army, and Marine Corps. You will be responsible for the precise assembly and integration of electronic systems, subsystems, and cable assemblies, ensuring all deliverables meet stringent defense industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Integration: Build complex cable assemblies, electrical units, systems, and subsystems by interpreting engineering design drawings, cable running sheets, diagrams, and schematics.
- Kit Preparation: Prepare detailed assembly kits by counting and verifying parts against itemized listings to ensure 100% accuracy before production begins.
- Electrical Wiring: Route wiring and cabling through assemblies to designated terminals following strict color-coding standards.
- Technical Execution: Perform precision soldering and wire-wrapping around terminals to establish secure, high-quality electrical connections.
- Compliance: Execute tasks based on a combination of formal written instructions, technical drawings, and verbal guidance from senior engineering staff.
- Multi-Contract Support: Adapt to the specific technical requirements and standards associated with various military branches (Navy, Coast Guard, Army, and Marine Corps).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Manual Dexterity: Proficiency (or aptitude to learn) in soldering and wire routing.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision in part verification and counting to prevent assembly errors.
- Adaptability: Ability to pivot between different project requirements supporting multiple military contracts.
- Communication: Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions accurately.
Training & Development
The selected candidate will undergo comprehensive company-provided training to ensure proficiency in BAE Systems' specific assembly standards, safety protocols, and quality control requirements before beginning full production duties.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $22.92/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills High school diploma and some related experience showing mechanical aptitude
Ability to use various hand and power tools
Ability to successfully complete BAE Systems solder and cable fabrication training
Normal color perception
Ability to work as a team player
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Mechanical and/or electrical experience
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - Maritime Training (OSHA 1915) certification
Pay InformationThis position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
