Job Summary and Qualifications
The Telemetry Tech monitors the ECG patterns of patients and facilitates the review and documentation of ECG strips. Evaluates ECG rhythms and notifies the RN of dangerous arrhythmias and/or other changes. Works collaboratively with hospital staff and other personnel in maintaining quality patient care in the clinical setting. Participates in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety and quality of care. Values each individual's unique and intrinsic worth when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Bayshore Medical Center.
What you will do in this role:
- Assists with the review and interpretation of ECG strips. Accurately documents the interpretation of ECG strips and places appropriate ECG strips in the medical record.
- Completes and demonstrates proficiency with unit based clinical and age-appropriate nursing competencies.
- Complies with applicable hospital policy/procedure.
- Educates staff and physicians on function and use of the telemetry monitoring system.
- Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Diligently observes cardiac monitors for the presence of abnormal variations in heart rhythm.
- Ethics and Compliance. Accountable for behaviors relative to the values articulated in the Mission & Values Statement – “Will act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.” Accountable for attending annual Code of Conduct training.
- Immediately reports life threatening arrhythmias to the RN and timely notifies RN of other changes in patient’s cardiac rhythm.
- Participates in hospital performance improvement activities to improve safety and patient outcomes.
- Performs general maintenance of the telemetry system (cleans telemetry boxes & leads, checks function of the system, maintain supplies).
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

- Utilizes appropriate infection control techniques and universal precautions as part of job duties.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- High School Graduate / GED
