Lockheed Martin Space in Titusville, FL has a dynamic opportunity for a mid-career level System Safety Engineer to help develop and define the safety analysis and strategies to support development efforts on the Fleet Ballistic Missile program. In this key role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.
This opportunity will require you to review, track, and assess hardware and software changes for hazard impacts, and develop, maintain, and update safety hazard analyses. Your many responsibilities will include the following tasks:
- Develop and update hazard analysis products, including System Hazard Analyses and Safety Assessment Reports on equipment and facilities
- Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings
- Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to support Customer and Range Safety contractual requirements
- Collaborate with customer safety counterparts and support weapon systems working groups
Our ideal candidate is someone with experience in System Safety background and experience with weapons systems, U.S. Army or Navy customers, safety requirements, ordnance and software.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
