Required to be in Nashville, TN.
OCI is transforming the developer platform experience. We are building an all-new application deployment system that will become a critical foundation for how developers build, validate, release, operate, and evolve services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This is a rare opportunity to shape a greenfield platform with broad customer impact and a direct role in OCI’s next phase of growth.
As a Senior Principal Software Development Engineer, you will set the long-term technical vision for reliable, secure, and delightful deployment capabilities across the OCI Developer Platform. You will align multiple organizations around durable platform strategy, unlock step-function improvements in developer velocity, and establish industry-leading foundations for the rapid adoption of agentic engineering—without compromising the safety, governance, or reliability of our systems.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
-
12+ years of professional software development experience, including a record of shaping and delivering complex, production-quality distributed systems, platform services, or developer tools at significant scale.
-
Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Java, Go, C++, C#, Python, or similar.
-
Recognized depth in architecture and system design, with experience evolving APIs, data models, and service ecosystems for scalability, availability, security, operability, and long-term business impact.
-
Solid understanding of cloud-native systems, including containers, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, or release engineering concepts.
-
Demonstrated Senior Principal-level leadership: you can establish technical vision, influence executives and senior engineering leaders, align organizations, and drive sustained outcomes across complex systems.
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical concepts clear, build durable consensus, and influence decisions across organizational and functional boundaries.
Preferred qualifications: Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus.
-
Application deployment platforms, continuous delivery, GitOps, artifact management, or developer platform engineering.
-
Large-scale distributed systems, multi-tenant cloud services, control planes, workflow orchestration, platform architecture, or multi-year technology strategy.
-
Reliability engineering, production incident leadership, observability, capacity strategy, or performance engineering for critical cloud infrastructure.
-
Security engineering, identity and access management, policy-as-code, supply-chain security, or compliance automation.
-
AI-assisted developer tools, agentic workflows, or safety architecture and governance for autonomous or semi-autonomous systems at enterprise scale.
