Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.
We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. This position is for an Engineer in the Boost Control System (BCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the BCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the control systems used during the boost phase of the missiles flight.
This role is for a component engineer for the Gas Generator (GG). In this role, you will have the opportunity to: manage hardware components, be empowered to develop technical solutions, and potentially be the technical lead of a component throughout different phases of the product life-cycle (qualification, production, service support, aging, etc.). The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of mechanical design and any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion, rocketry, aerodynamics, mechanisms, or materials or fluids.
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
