Diego Garcia is a remote, tropical island in the Indian Ocean with a Naval Support Facility that serves as the base of operations, maintenance and logistical support for operational forces forward deployed to the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf areas. KBR provides a wealth of services to keep the base running and mission ready.
The Fire Alarm System Technician (NICET III Certified) will:
- Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire suppression systems.
- Inspect, test and repair fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment.
- Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Inspect, repair or replace smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads.
- Repair and test wet/dry systems; test fire alarm system devices using appropriate diagnostic programs and test equipment.
- Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
- Read, interpret, and apply system design plans and building construction drawings and documents.
- Perform true test smoke detector sensitivity procedure.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be NICET Certified Level I, II, and III – Fire Alarm Systems.
- Requires NICET Certified Level I or II – Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Must have a High School Diploma, Vocational or be a technical course graduate.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is highly desired.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in the Fire Protection/Life Safety Industry including extensive knowledge of various types of Fire Alarm Systems (conventional, addressable, VHF radio transmitters and receivers, etc.)
- Requires a high level of knowledge & application of the National Fire Alarm Code and Unified Facility Criteria 03-601-02 and/or UFC 03-600-01 as well as other applicable codes and standards.
- Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and mass notification systems and equipment.
- Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.

- Siemens/Pyrotronics System 3 Systems.
- Notifier NFS2-640 Systems.
- EST 3 systems.
- Simplex addressable systems.
- King Fisher Company KFRTI-20/52 systems.
- King Fisher KFRI Interface Panels.
- King Fisher Company MCR2 Receiver systems.
- Fire Sprinkler test maintain and repair wet and dry.
- Cardox or Kidde High Pressure CO2 Systems.
- Ansul R-102 Systems.
- Viking J-1 Wet Pipes Systems.
- Automatic Sprinkler Company of America Alarm Valves.
