Instrument & Control Lead Technician
KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Supervisor to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tonnes per year. The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans. This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.
Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

This position is contingent upon having a current/valid TWIC card or having the ability to renew or obtain a TWIC card. The TWIC card must be kept current and maintained through employment.
The Instrumentation & Controls Supervisor will produce testing procedures for instrument control loops and equipment packages for approval by the Client team and support the preparation of pre-commissioning and commissioning dossiers. On site this role will also be responsible for monitoring the completion of those dossiers, ensuring necessary documentation is included such as ITRs, certificates, Red-Line Mark-Ups, punch status etc. The Instrumentation & Controls Supervisor will report to the area Superintendent.

Responsibilities:
- Organize test teams to meet the completion priorities
- Assist with overseeing the testing of safety related control systems, including Fire & Gas, FACPs, ESD, SIL and SIF Loops - Cause and Effect testing will form part of this requirement
- Hands on experience with Hazardous Area regulations (EExd, Exia, EExe) when dealing with instrumentation systems
- Instruct & direct Instrument technicians to accomplish loop checks required to handover the various systems and sub-systems for the project to enable Substantial Completion / RFSU, including to ensure that Co-Console electronic recording is correctly completed and that the Clients representatives approve sign-off
- Assist with and participate in completion system walkdowns on site with a multi-disciplined team
- Participate in regular progress and co-ordination meetings with Client and Contractors
- Follow-up for the effective sign-off of field generated punch lists
- Assist with daily risk assessments and permits for all site-based Pre-Commissioning and CSU activities
Experience & Skills:
- Large Scale ICSS interfacing to multiple package equipment vendors
- Knowledge of PLCs and a broad knowledge of the detailed design engineering processes of all types of field and control instrumentation
- Proficiency with MS Office with the ability to access databases, extract data and be able to create reports
- GTGs and package compressor systems (Baker Hughes) and Power Management Systems experience is an advantage
- Electronic completion system experience such as CoConsole or WinPCS an advantage
- Required project experience within LNG industry
Additional Qualifications:
- In lieu of formal education 18 + years of relevant experience including 5 + years of experience with LNG projects
- Or bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field and 10 + years of relevant field experience with average experience of 15 years
