Health100 is a high-impact, AI-native health technology platform designed to redefine how consumers navigate care. By connecting pharmacies, providers, insurers, PBMs, and digital health solutions in one intelligent ecosystem, Health100 gives members a simpler, more personalized way to manage their health while helping improve outcomes at enterprise scale. As AVP of Digital Engineering, you will have the opportunity to shape a flagship digital health platform from the executive seat—setting the engineering vision, building scalable capabilities, and influencing how next-generation AI and digital experiences transform health care.
This is a highly visible executive leadership role for a builder, strategist, and technology leader who wants to make a meaningful mark in digital health. You will lead internal engineering teams, senior technical leaders, and strategic vendor partners in delivering modern, secure, consumer-facing solutions in a complex regulated environment. The role offers broad enterprise exposure, direct partnership with product, AI, business, and senior leadership stakeholders, and the opportunity to create a culture of engineering excellence, speed, accountability, and customer-centered innovation. The ideal leader brings deep technical credibility, strong executive presence, and the ability to translate bold digital ambition into reliable, scalable platforms that improve the health experience for millions of people.
Why this role matters: This is a rare opportunity to lead at the intersection of enterprise-scale engineering, consumer health transformation, and applied AI—building technology that is not only modern and scalable, but deeply connected to improving access, personalization, and outcomes for the people CVS Health serves.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
- Own end-to-end engineering delivery for Health100's digital health solutions — web, mobile, and backend services.
- Drive an agile, iterative delivery model with short release cycles, tight feedback loops, and a pilot-first mindset.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for code quality, architecture, security, and scalability across the platform.
- Define and evolve the full-stack architecture for Health100 — including member-facing app layers, AI/ML integration, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Partner with product and AI leads to shape technical feasibility and sequencing of the roadmap, including AI health assistant capabilities.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance, PHI handling, and security posture are embedded in the engineering process — not bolted on.
Organizational Leadership and Talent Strategy
- Lead a mixed team of internal engineers (ICs), engineer leaders and external development vendors, holding all parties to unified delivery and quality standards.
- Evaluate, onboard, and manage software development partners — assessing them as strategic partners, not staff augmentation.
- Lead, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers, owning hiring, performance management, career development, succession planning, and a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Create a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and proactive risk identification.
Cross-Functional & Executive Engagement
- Serve as the senior engineering voice in product, strategy, and leadership forums — translating technical complexity into business clarity.
- Own engineering metrics and reporting for Health100 — including delivery velocity, platform reliability, AI performance, and technical health.
- Represent engineering in vendor negotiations, partner evaluations, and external technical due diligence.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles
- Proven track record delivering full-stack digital products at scale — ideally in health, benefits, insurance, or another regulated domain.
- Deep experience leading large-scale, globally distributed teams, and ensuring the health and stability of production operations.
- Strong full-stack fluency — you can engage meaningfully in architecture decisions across frontend (Flutter/React/mobile), backend (APIs, microservices), and data layers.
- Hands-on experience in agile delivery environments with short iteration cycles, pilot launches, and data-informed product development.
- Experience in financial management of large corporate portfolios and cost center expenses.
- Technical expertise in triaging, understanding, and solving complex challenges across various technology stacks, enterprise integrations, and vendor platforms.
- Executive-level communication and influence skills, with hands-on or applied experience delivering AI-enabled or generative AI–integrated software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building member- or patient-facing health applications; familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or health data standards.
- Exposure to AI/ML integration in production products — particularly conversational AI or health AI assistants.
- Experience in a large enterprise health system, payor, or health tech company (payer-side or provider-side).
- Experience leading digital enablement and transformative initiatives.
