Job Summary:
HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider.
Join a Growing Cardiothoracic Surgery Program:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cardiothoracic APP (Physician Assistant or Acute Care NP) to join our expanding cardiothoracic surgery program. The position offers a balanced blend of operative first assisting, ICU management, and perioperative patient care within a high-volume cardiac and thoracic program.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a collaborative environment alongside cardiothoracic surgeons and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes across a continuum of care.
Qualified Candidates/Details:
- Graduated from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program
- Have a Florida license or the ability to get a Florida license prior to starting
- 2 or more years’ experience in first assist for adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valves, aortic surgery) and thoracic procedures with Robotics and TEVAR experience a plus.
- Endoscopic saphenous vein harvest (EVH) with Saphena XL system; Endoscopic radial artery harvest a plus, though willing to train
- Participate in urgent and emergent operative cases
Intensive Care Unit & Inpatient Management
- Daily management of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- Hemodynamic assessment and management
- Coordination of multidisciplinary teams
- Discharge planning and transition of care
- Participation in night and weekend OR call with expected coverage 1:3. No overnight shifts required
Procedural Responsibilities
Preferred candidates will have experience with:
- Chest tube placement and management
- Central venous catheter placement
- Arterial line placement
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal

You thrive in the OR, are confident in the ICU, and are committed to helping build a premier cardiac surgery program whiel maintaining excellent patient outcomes.
