Medical Assistant Apprentice – HealthLink Program
Are you ready to shape your future in healthcare? As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you’ll be part of a progressive, hands-on learning experience under the guidance of a clinical preceptor team. Your role will grow as your competencies develop, allowing you to contribute meaningfully to patient care and clinic operations.
As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will:
Greet and room patients, take vital signs, perform EKGs, and document clinical activities in the EMR.
Assist with point-of-care testing (e.g., urine, rapid strep/influenza, HGB A1C, PT/INR) and specimen collection.
Support front desk operations including scheduling, insurance verification, and medical record retrieval.
Communicate effectively with patients and the care team to ensure physical, emotional, and cultural needs are met.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive patient experience.
Maintain clean and organized patient areas and ensure adequate supplies are available.
Answer and route phone calls and online messages professionally and accurately.
Uphold all organizational policies, including the Code of Conduct and Mission & Values.
You Should Have:
A genuine desire to work with diverse patient populations and contribute to their well-being.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning and improvement.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and email.
Demonstrated customer service and leadership abilities through school or prior work experience.
Enrollment in Metro Nashville Public Schools and participation in the Work-Based Learning Program.
