Director Advanced Analytics
Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Director Advanced Analytics will be responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the resources and efforts of an advanced analytics team to accomplish the company objectives through program evaluation, foundational health services and health economics research, opportunity analyses, and general analytic consulting to Elevance Health stakeholders and partners. Will lead consultative analytics for the Behavioral Health business, partnering with senior leaders to drive data-informed decisions in a rapidly growing area of healthcare. This role will build and scale a high-impact analytics team.
How you will make an impact:
• Lead analytics strategy and delivery.
• Partner with executive stakeholders to translate business needs into insights
• Build and develop a growing analytics team
• Modernize analytics capabilities (from ad hoc to scalable dashboards and tools)
• Deliver insights on cost, utilization, and program performance
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data, tech, and business teams
• Manages day-to-day research activities of a team of advanced analysts in a particular subject matter or specific functional area.
• The work will mainly focus on supporting Elevance Health Cost of Care governance activities by providing our actuaries with scientific studies of the impact of various programs and policies on medical spending to inform their cost of care forecasts.
• Additionally, the work will also support program teams by providing continual feedback on program performance, identifying drivers of success, and insights into future opportunities for program enhancements or expansions.
• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates the performance of direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS in Health Services Research, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related research-oriented discipline and minimum 10 years’ experience leading evaluation/research/consulting projects and teams; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
• Deep Behavioral Health domain expertise is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of statistical software and analytic platforms is strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree in a research-oriented discipline (Health Services Research, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, etc.) and prior leadership/management experience preferred.
• Experience leading analytics teams in complex organizations preferred.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills are preferred.
• Proven ability to connect business strategy to analytics outcomes is preferred
• Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., SQL, BI platforms) is preferred.
• Healthcare or payer analytics experience is preferred.
• Experience building or scaling analytics functions is preferred.
• Background in self-service analytics and data products is preferred.
• Collaborative, servant leader mindset is strongly preferred.
• Strong cross-functional partnership skills are preferred.
• Strategic thinker with hands-on execution experience is preferred.
