Job Description The Procurement Specialist supports manufacturing and business operations by procuring materials, equipment, and services; issuing controlled materials; and assisting with supplier onboarding. This position partners with internal customers and suppliers to complete work accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company requirements.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Support manufacturing, engineering, development, and business operations by processing indirect procurement requests for materials, equipment, and services.
- Provide responsive customer support, proactive communication, and timely follow-up throughout the procurement process.
- Coordinate with suppliers to obtain quotations, place orders, expedite deliveries, and support on-time fulfillment of operational needs.
- Assist with onboarding suppliers that are not yet approved or established in corporate systems by coordinating required documentation and stakeholder reviews.
- Investigate supplier discrepancies, returns, damaged shipments, invoice issues, and other procurement concerns.
- Issue paint and other controlled materials to program shop orders using established systems and procedures.
- Support inventory accuracy, material traceability, lot control, shelf-life management, and required transaction documentation.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other functions to align activities with business priorities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, purchasing practices, and supplier coordination.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build productive cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound business judgment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
#LI-AD2A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or a related field.
- Familiarity with IFS or similar ERP systems and shop-order or inventory transactions.
- Background supporting manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or another regulated environment.
- Experience with controlled, shelf-life-limited, or expired materials.
- Demonstrated ability to document processes and develop standard work instructions.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $56401 - $95881
