Job Summary and Qualifications
To collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process. Note: The following is not intended to be a finite list of responsibilities for this position
Major Responsibilities:
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
Quality
• Performs timely nutrition screenings and assessemnts in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy
• Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.
• Identify patients at nutritional risk based on established criteria
• Evaluate age specific, developmental and disease specific nutritional needs of patients
• Develop and implement individualized nutritional plan of care.
• Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
• Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
• Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits
• Adheres to nutrition care guidelines, the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence based nutrition care.
• Integrates the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.
Specialty-Specific Responsibilities
• Participation in appropriate department and hospital wide committees and community events to promote medical nutrition therapy.
• Participates in research opportunities and promotes evidenced-based practice

• Assumes accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
• Maintains a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
• Displays courteous behavior to customers, guests, and co-worker. Must smile, make eye contact, and use AIDET principles when interfacing with patients.
People
• Mentors and coaches dietetic interns and new employees while fostering their critical thinking skills.
• Serve as a clinical resource for reliable nutrition information to all interdisciplinary team members, interns, and the community.
Growth
• Pursues goals and professional development to maintain a high level of competency in nutrition care.
Finance
• Perform all duties and uses resources in a fiscially responsible manner.
Education & Experience:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent required.
- Required: Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program
- Preferred: One to two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience
Licensure, Certifications, Training: Credential*:
Required: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic
Preferred: Licensed by the State department of Licensing and Regulation or as required by state.
Required: Obtains 75 CEU’s within a 5-year period to meet CDR professional portfolio requirements
Required: Employment in this position is contingent upon continued registration and licensure as a dietitian
