Job Summary and Qualifications
Performs EKG monitoring duties on the nursing unit under the direct supervision of licensed caregivers.
- Achieves professional goals set during previous evaluation period

- Monitoring Skills- able to interpret normal and abnormal rhythms, able to recognize artifact
|
- Monitoring Skills: demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application
|
- Ensures accurate maintenance of EKG rhythm documentation on patients’ medical records according to department standards.
|
- Monitoring Skills- Sets alarm parameters every shift, upon return from off unit and as needed.
|
- Understands and follows chain of command
|
- Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
|
- Maintains the telemetry equipment
|
- Participates in hospital and unit Performance Improvement
|
- Documentation- maintains logs per policy
|
What qualifications you will need:
| Required Education | High school or GED preferred |
| Required License/Certification | CNA preferred, not required; no licensure required. ECG interpretation required |
| Training and Experience | Six months to one year preferred, but not required |
| Skills and Knowledge | Ability to communicate with all customers both orally and written in a clear, professional and effective manner. Provides care or services for the following age group/groups: Adult (20 – 65y) and Geriatric (65y & older). This position may from time to time require that patients outside of the normal age group/groups be cared for. In this event the person should consult available resources to provide the appropriate care. |
