Job Summary and Qualifications
The Medical Staff Director is responsible for supervision of the Medical Staff Services Office. Supervision of activities includes meeting management, credentialing and re-credentialing, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures development and revision. The Director is also responsible for department operations, budgeting, planning, development of information systems and coordination of information flow with other departments and the medical and Allied Health staffs.
What you will do in this role:
- You will oversee the preparation of accurate documentation of medical staff organization activities following legal guidelines, JCAHO, CMS, and other federal and state requirements.
- You will maintains documentation of all minutes for JCAH, CMS, and other accreditation and licensing surveys.
- You will assure that credentialing verification procedures are completed in a timely manner according to the medical staff bylaws and medical staff office policies and procedures.
- You will support yearly orientation programs for medical staff officers and department chairs regarding required duties to help them consistently perform their functions.
Qualifications You Will Need:
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred or actively pursuing certification
- Associate Degree in Medical Staff Services Science, business or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of comprehensive experience as a Medical Staff Services professional.
- Must have working knowledge of Medical Staff credentialing, basic Medical Staff organizational structure, and regulatory agency requirements.
