The UnitedHealth Group Manager, Environmental Sustainability will report to the Environmental Sustainability Lead on the ESG team. The ESG team has strategic responsibility for UnitedHealth Group’s ESG activities and partners across the enterprise to create and implement strategies for a sustainable health system. As a member of the ESG team, the Manager of Environmental Sustainability will be responsible for supporting UnitedHealth Group’s environmental commitments and reporting, as well as project managing the execution of initiatives across the organization to minimize our impact on the environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the management and maintenance of UHG’s overall strategy for a multi-dimensional approach to minimize our impact on the environment
- Measure all non-real estate categories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (e.g., medical gases, aviation, employee commuting.)
- Collaborate with real estate, procurement and treasury data owners to develop comprehensive GHG emissions performance tracking that meets operational, regulatory and reporting needs
- Track progress against milestones and measurements towards attaining enterprise environmental goals through a multi-year roadmap, transition plan and scorecards
- Assess target areas for external reporting on the environmental impact of better care/ better health outcomes (e.g., value-based care, telehealth.)
- Build executive decks and board updates on environmental activities and performance
- Support the execution of organizational policies, programs and practices that address environmental risks and opportunities
- Monitor enterprise impact of changes with the Science Based Target initiative, emissions reporting methodologies, evolving environmental regulation, and reporting trends

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field or related experience
- 2+ years of experience supporting/ managing the collection, analysis and disclosure of environmental data, including carbon accounting certification or material experience in Green House Gas emissions data and performance management
- 1+ years of experience with environmental disclosure regulations (e.g. California laws, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting, UK disclosure requirements, SEC Final Rule on Climate Related Disclosures, TCFD/ ISSB)
- Proven solid written and verbal communication, including Powerpoint presentation development skills
- Proven track record of effective project management

Washington, D.C. Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
