Job Summary and Qualifications
Under minimal supervision, functions as an integral member of the Operating Room Team. Performs patient preps, transports patients and specimens, blood products and other errands. Assists with patient positioning using aseptic technique. Provides housekeeping services in the department. Maintains a safe and efficient patient care. - Assists the nurse/physician with patient care as directed.
- Assists in transporting patients to surgery in a timely basis, communicating information on any delays to the OR Charge Nurse.
- Assists in lifting, moving and transferring patients from stretcher or bed to OR table and vice-versa.
- As directed, assists in positioning patients and holding limbs during surgical preps.
- Performs pre-operative shave preps according to procedure.
- Performs between case clean up in assigned OR’s. Accomplishes room turn over within acceptable time frames.
- Checks, cleans and restocks all assigned areas and completes check lists provided.
- Assists in bringing equipment, carts, tables, positioning devices, etc. into the Ors during set-up for procedure.
- Answers intercom and pages promptly and courteously, responds to needs.
- Assists with picking supplies for cases when training has been completed.
- Demonstrates personal characteristics and the ability to effectively communicate with nursing staff, managers, and physicians.
Qualifications:
- BCLS Certification
- High school diploma/GED
- One- two years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred
