HDR is actively seeking an Office Engineer to join our growing New York City Water group. The selected candidate will be responsible to assist Resident Engineer to process submittal, contractor payments, documentation and record keeping on NYCDEP water and wastewater infrastructure projects in various locations across NYC 5 boroughs.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that proper documentation is received from Contractors for all aspects of contract.
- Prepare status and progress reports.
- Coordinate and track all project plans and drawings.
- Ensure that Change Order work and Time and Material work is accurately documented on Daily Inspector’s Reports
- Prepare and/or review change orders.
- Attend construction progress meeting and prepare Project Meeting Minutes and monthly report as required.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills to oversight of a team of sub-consultants.
- Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize work.
- Support Resident Engineer with the preparation and maintenance of construction schedules.
- Assist in project close-out activities including the As-Built Drawing, documentations, and resolution of potential claims.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant Office Engineer experience involved in infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with contract documents and construction plans and specifications and proficient with web-based construction document management platforms.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience working with NYCDEP.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 5 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
- Must have a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
