Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Marine Engineer for the USAV Worthy contract, and supporting multiple projects in the Navy Division.
JOB DETAILS
LOCATION: Washington, DC (may work remotely; travels to job sites as needed)
JOB STATUS: FT
TRAVEL: 20%
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in marine or mechanical engineering or naval architecture (related engineering disciplines will be considered)
- 6 years’ experience as an engineer in ship repair or construction
- 3 years' experience as a project manager or lead project engineer with documented experience training and supervising engineering teams including designers/draftsmen, engineering technicians, and technical staff
- Ability to obtain a SECRET-level Clearance
- Experience with a variety of engineering processes including mechanical, electrical, and software
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration is a plus
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired
- Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
- Sound knowledge of maritime software control systems such as HMI and PLC
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Marine Engineer will manage the development of multiple projects, overseeing research, design, construction, and repair of marine vessels, infrastructure, and equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing technical reports such as research, systems diagnostics, and design analysis documentation.
- Presenting layout and engineering designs to clients and team members for analysis and feedback.
- Supervising all aspects of the design process for structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Performing quality control inspections and tests on systems and equipment and installing upgrades, as needed.
- Ensuring adherence to safety precautions and project timelines.
- Supervising maintenance on marine vehicles and equipment.
