Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Nursing Administration /Designee, the Registered Nurse in the RN Float Pool is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients experiencing critical illnesses requiring admission to the Unit. The Registered Nurse in the RN Float Pool supports the medical care of all patients requiring Critical Care/ Intermediate Care/ Medical Surgical services under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in ensuring safe and competent quality patient care. The Registered Nurse provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Registered Nurse provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel in providing patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delegating nursing tasks based on the needs of the patient and the knowledge and skills of the individual selected to perform such tasks. The Registered nurse must be able to assess own learning needs to enhance personal and professional development. The nurse will increase knowledge and skills related to patient care by attending workshops, formal classes, seminars and in-services. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on assigned area.

- Sets an example to all staff in their daily activities.
- Responsible for training and evaluating staff on the overall code of conduct and specific policies and procedures that affect department specific responsibilities (examples may include but not limited to PEPP, medical necessity, lab compliance, billing, and coding).
- If an ethics and compliance issue is identified, takes appropriate action to correct and/or report any violation that he/she is aware of in the department or the facility.
