Why this job matters: Analyzes and synthesizes medical policy information to elicit the actual business needs of stakeholders with monitoring and guidance from management. Facilitates business requirements gathering and documentation and offers support for Utilization Management activities and initiatives. Plays a role in aligning the needs of business units with the capabilities delivered by medical management platforms.
What you will do:
- Assist with planning business analysis deliverables and problem scope definition.
- Plan, structure and maintain medical policy and utilization management requirements traceability.
- Prepare for requirements elicitation by clarifying scope, exploring existing documentation, scheduling analysis activities, and notifying stakeholders.
- Assist with business requirement elicitation sessions using shadowing, or other tools as needed.
- Confirm and document results of elicitation sessions.
- Analyze requirements by prioritizing, organizing, specifying and validating.
- Assist with modeling requirements.
- Manage and communicate requirements, specifically within medical management applications such as MHK and InterQual Connect.
- Assist with solution assessment and validation process.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.
- 1 - 2 years business analysis experience or transferable business experiences.
- Awareness of business analysis industry trends and best-practices.
- Awareness of elicitation tools and techniques and how they are used.
- Functional versus non-functional (quality of service) requirements.
- Fundamentals of a Traceability Matrix.

Location: BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
- Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia.
