Job Description:
Reporting to the General Counsel Director for Enterprise Operations and International Employment Law of Lockheed Martin Corporation, this position will serve as counsel and advisor to the Director and Enterprise Operations Human Resources on a broad range of employment issues and practices across the United States, to include compliance with all relevant Federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as global employment law issues. This position may also work with other employment counsel supporting the business areas.
Will be responsible for providing general advice for enterprise-wide employment issues to include the following:
• The Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Workers Adjustment and Retraining and Notification Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Service Contract Act.
• Employment policies and practices, including recruiting, hiring, employee discipline, medical and other absences and return to work, talent management and promotions, terminations, employee privacy and personal data protection; workplace violence; workforce reductions; drug-free workplace; equal employment opportunity and affirmative action requirements under Federal, state and local law and regulation, including submissions and responses to EEOC and OFCCP requests for information and audits; prevailing wages and wage payment laws.
• Prepare legal updates on emerging employment law issues.
• Interact with outside legal counsel on various issues.
Drafting employment and separation agreements.
• Will demonstrate superior judgment and work product, must be a self-starter and able to work semi-autonomously. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Effectively represent Enterprise Operations in administrative charges or complaints involving alleged unlawful discrimination and harassment, reasonable accommodation, retaliation, overtime, and wage payment issues, violation of federal, state and/or local law or regulation, wrongful discharge and other employment claims.
Present legal updates on emerging employment law issues.
Provides legal advice, counsel and service to internal business clients concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of corporations. Draws up contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, employment, insurance, mergers, acquisitions and related matters. Keeps current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies. Examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit. Acts as agent of corporation in various transactions. Advises company regarding concerns for risk assessment. Must have admission to practice law. May develop, review, or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training programs. May also oversee corporate governance matters and its various committees. May work with outside counsel to direct activities.
