Seeking a Medical Technologist II who performs all approved laboratory procedures in assigned areas of licensure. The work customarily involves any testing which may require a high degree of theoretical knowledge and technical expertise in licensed areas. Collaborates with other members of the health care delivery team to deliver quality healthcare.
What you will do in this role:
- Performs calibration, quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on highly sophisticated and technical diagnostic equipment.
- Evaluates specimen integrity and identification prior to performing testing.
- Accurately performs laboratory testing within specified turn-around-time requirements.
- Actively and quickly investigates specimen problems and takes all steps necessary to resolve.
- Performs all maintenance, quality control, corrective action and calibration procedures as required. Performs analyzer troubleshooting procedures as required.
- Reports critical test results within 30 minutes of completion, requests verbal read back and documents same.
- Reports reference laboratory tests within specified time frames.
- Assists Technical Supervisor with evaluation of new methods, lot crossovers, and other projects as requested.
- Monitors Tracker and investigates and resolves delays.
- Maintains adequate inventory of reagents and supplies and notifies Technical Supervisor when reagents and supplies are running low.
- Ensures continuation of care across shifts by providing and receiving shift report at each shift change.
- Provides technical guidance to phlebotomists, nurses and physicians.
- Communicates technical and procedural problems to Director, Emergency Department and House Supervisor as needed.
- Ensures compliance with CAP, CLIA, AHCA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Writes, revises, reviews, and signs policies/procedures within specified time limits and as needed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
- Promoting consistent positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service
- Practicing and adhering to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”
- Performing other duties as assigned
What Qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or closely related field, i.e. Biological Sciences Required
- 3 years’ experience as a Medical Technologist Required
Licenses & Certifications
- State of Florida Clinical Lab Technologist or State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor Required
