Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Senior Senior Data Center Low Voltage Engineer (IC3) to support onsite installation, validation, and vendor coordination for low-voltage (LV) infrastructure supporting hyperscale cloud and AI data center deployments.
This role independently executes assigned technical work within established designs and standards across telecommunications systems, fiber deployment, structured cabling, rack integration, commissioning, and operational readiness. The engineer works with engineering, Program Management, construction, and vendor teams to verify installation quality, identify defects, and confirm remediation.
The successful candidate will troubleshoot moderately complex infrastructure issues, track deployment progress and dependencies, and escalate risks affecting critical build milestones. This role requires onsite presence in Saline, MI and participation in an on-call support rotation to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and coordinate resolution.
Internal Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Design & Implementation: Cabling Infrastructure
- Validates installation quality and test results, identifies defects, and verifies vendor remediation against acceptance criteria.
- Troubleshoots moderately complex low voltage connectivity issues, including patch panels, patch cords, and associated cabling infrastructure.
- Contributes field findings and technical recommendations to global data center cabling and infrastructure standards.
Data Center Design & Implementation: Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinates onsite low-voltage implementation activities, confirming installation readiness, sequencing, and adherence to technical requirements.
- Identifies execution risks and dependencies, resolves issues within assigned scope, and escalates issues requiring broader technical or program decisions.
- Develops repeatable installation, validation, and handoff practices to improve quality and execution efficiency.
- Participates in on-call support rotation to troubleshoot low-voltage infrastructure issues, coordinate remediation, and escalate incidents as needed.
Project Management: Project Planning
- Reviews project scope, Bills of Materials, resource availability, and schedules to identify gaps and support execution planning.
- Plans and prioritizes assigned work across deployment activities, adjusting to changes in site readiness, resources, and milestones.
- Incorporates operational requirements and customer impact into implementation and handoff planning.
Project Management: Reporting & Documentation
- Collaborates with Program Management teams to track deliverables, communicate risks, and support completion against critical build milestones.
- Provides technical updates during vendor reviews, documenting installation progress, defects, remediation commitments, and roadblocks.
- Creates and maintains installation records, validation results, punch lists, and infrastructure handoff documentation.
- Contributes updates to cabling standards and build documentation based on field experience.
Vendor Management
- Coordinates vendor execution within assigned scope and verifies that completed installations meet design, quality, and acceptance requirements.
- Tracks vendor issues and remediation through closure, escalating performance or schedule concerns when needed.
- Maintains working relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve field issues and support deployment milestones.
Core Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
- Independently manages moderately complex technical tasks and assigned workstreams, monitoring quality, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinates dependencies across vendors and internal teams, adjusting execution plans within assigned scope and escalating changes that affect broader commitments.
Collaboration & Partnership
- Works across engineering, operations, Program Management, and vendor teams to align technical requirements, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria.
- Incorporates stakeholder input and diverse perspectives into implementation decisions and issue resolution.
Problem Solving
- Analyzes installation conditions, test results, and technical documentation to resolve moderately complex infrastructure issues using established practices and engineering judgment.
- Escalates unresolved or critical issues with supporting evidence, an assessment of impact, and recommended next steps.
- Documents resolutions and shares findings to reduce recurring defects.
Continuous Learning
- Expands technical knowledge of structured cabling, testing methods, and hyperscale data center deployment practices.
- Applies feedback and training to improve execution quality and troubleshooting effectiveness.
- Provides technical guidance and shares field knowledge with less-experienced team members.
Continuous Improvement
- Identifies recurring installation and coordination issues and recommends practical improvements to procedures, documentation, and workflows.
- Implements improvements within assigned scope and evaluates their effect on quality, rework, and delivery timelines.
