Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is building some of the world’s largest and most advanced GPU clusters to power the next generation of AI. Our team helps bring new GPU systems and racks into these clusters at scale.
As a Senior Manager, you will lead a software development team that designs, builds, and deploys new features and recipes to onboard new generations of GPU systems and racks into OCI’s AI infrastructure. You will bring technical depth, architectural judgment, and distributed systems experience, along with strong people and process management skills. You should be comfortable diving into technical details, working in a collaborative and agile environment, and building systems that are simple, scalable, and reliable.
Desired Skills and Experience:
-
10+ years experience in software development
-
5+ years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly-available distributed systems
-
5+ years experience leading engineering teams
-
BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
-
Demonstrated expertise in cloud engineering, networking, and distributed systems
-
Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit very strong engineering talent
-
Sustainably scale systems through tooling and automation
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences including senior leadership
-
Results driven; thrives in a development environment that is agile, collaborative, and in start-up mode, even when faced with ambiguity and competing priorities
Internal Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at OCI, you will own:
Engineering and project management: You’ll work with engineering stakeholders to understand the health monitoring, diagnostics, fault detection, and repair capabilities required for new GPU systems. You’ll turn those requirements into engineering tasks, build a roadmap, and make priority tradeoffs. You’ll lead your team’s projects to deliver automated fault detection and repair recipes for new GPU systems, managing risks and removing blockers along the way. Success in this role requires breaking large, technically complex projects into manageable pieces, creating actionable plans, and delivering them to customers.
People management: You’ll coach and develop the engineers on your team, set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and manage performance. You’ll forecast staffing needs, identify the skills the team needs, and partner with recruiting to hire strong engineers who can support its long-term goals.
Process improvement: You’ll partner with other engineering teams to identify recurring problems, delivery bottlenecks, and gaps in how teams work together. You’ll address root causes, simplify workflows, and improve how teams plan, coordinate, and deliver so they can move faster without compromising quality or reliability.
This role is inherently cross-functional and requires the ability to collaborate with PM team and other teams across OCI AI Infrastructure teams.
