DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Packaging Technician III to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Memphis Distribution Center in Memphis, TN .
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Leads site activities on supplier packaging to assure compliance to global standards.
- Input Packaging Data Sheets (PDS) into Packaging Data Management System (PDMS).
- Manages site level returnable packaging program by keeping accurate inventory of all components within the program.
- Performs fleet size analysis for returnable containers and Coordinate with Material Planning to update forecast demand and container flow adjustments
- Implement changes to site packaging related processes (i.e. supplier information, repack instructions, “Plan for Every Part” (PFEP) data, wash/maintenance frequency).
- Assesses site packaging project requests and prioritize according to feasibility, impact and available resources to complete the project or task.
- Uses the Cummins Quality Management System (CQMS) Material Non-Conformance (MNC) process to submit claims for supplier packaging non-conformances as required.
- Collaborates with site Quality in monitoring defect trends or risks.
- Develops and implements changes to prevent or correct packaging related defects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience
- Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in a related field
- Work with the 3PL profiling teams to profile new and current parts.
- Review and approve PDS's in Specright for new parts or for certain current parts after they are profiled in a timely manner.
- Escalate issues related to PDS to the Packaging team.
- Add/update packaging work instructions for current and new parts in the system as needed or requested.
- Work closely with packaging team to help ensure all the packaging changes are being captured in the system using Specright.
- Create new packaging part numbers as needed.
- Help packaging team on other projects related to cost and waste reduction.
- Packaging solutions, packaging data system management, part profiling, packaging data collection, timely packaging approvals.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations
- A two year University degree from an accredited program in Business, Engineering or a relevant field of study preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and advanced level computer skills
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Microsoft office experience, any type of packaging data management or data management system experience, basic understanding of packaging, packaging materials knowledge.
- Must be available Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. & 5:00 P.M.: Subject to overtime.
