Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 114,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is one of four Lockheed Martin business areas. We are growing and seeking to hire a HWIL Test Engineer for our Grand Prairie, TX site.
The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Test Engineer will develop and execute tests of integrated RF sensor software, firmware, and hardware in a real-time, closed-loop laboratory environment. Working under general direction, the engineer will independently translate assigned verification objectives into test procedures, configure and integrate test-bed capabilities, analyze results, and resolve complex test and interface issues. This role emphasizes hands-on test execution, troubleshooting, and verification evidence in collaboration with systems, RF, software, firmware, and laboratory engineering teams.
Core Responsibilities
• Translate assigned system and subsystem requirements into HWIL test cases, procedures, expected results, and verification traceability.
• Configure test articles, real-time simulations, stimulus interfaces, instrumentation, and data collection for approved test scenarios.
• Integrate assigned hardware and software interfaces and verify configuration compatibility and test-bed readiness before execution.
• Execute repeatable closed-loop HWIL tests, monitor system behavior, and record as-run configurations and test conditions.
• Investigate discrepancies involving timing, synchronization, command and telemetry interfaces, stimulus, and test article responses.
• Analyze time-correlated test data, compare results with acceptance criteria, and distinguish test-bed issues from potential product defects.
• Develop and maintain test scripts and data analysis tools that improve repeatability and reduce manual effort.
• Coordinate defect investigation and retesting with responsible engineering teams and communicate test status, technical risks, and results.
• Prepare test reports, maintain configuration-controlled procedures and data, and contribute practical improvements to HWIL test methods.
