Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director and Manager of Imaging Services, the Imaging Assistant will perform clerical duties, patient navigation, and act as the assistant to MRI, CT, Unit secretary staff as well as other modalities as assigned. Your goal is to deliver prompt service to patients and expedite report items to our physicians.
- You will assist patients, families and others as needed; escort patients to correct locations for imaging studies. Transport inpatients and emergency patients to and from imaging modalities.
- Prep and screen patients before imaging exams. Verify patient identity, general patient mobility, and positioning.
- Facilitate communication between the Imaging Services Department and members of the medical staff and other hospital departments.
- Ensure quality care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures and standards for the department, hospital, and organization.
- Assist with the provision of all clerical services in the department, providing imaging on CD and managing cloud based imaging (powershare)
- Actively participate in Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives established by the Imaging Department
- Proactively address patient satisfaction issues related to delays in transport or procedures.
- Review written orders and accurately transcribe into the electronic medical record system, entering appropriate history as written in the order.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting required
- Imaging department experience, i.e. patient transport is preferred
- Computer experience to include Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days of start date
