Build the platform behind Oracle Cloud’s user experience. Join OCI User Experience Engineering to create the UI framework, developer tools, and AI-assisted reusable workflows that help service teams deliver better cloud applications. Work with TypeScript and Preact on challenges spanning interactive visualizations, API orchestration, accessibility, and global deployments. Own features from design through production, collaborate directly with engineers and designers, and multiply your impact through shared capabilities used across the OCI Console.
Internal Responsibilities
Software Engineer — OCI User Experience Engineering Platform
The OCI UXE team builds the shared UI framework and developer tools that OCI service teams use to deliver experiences in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console. The bespoke UX framework combines declarative configuration, reusable templates, API integration, and Oracle’s Redwood design system to help engineers build consistent cloud management interfaces. Our work spans the browser runtime, configuration compiler, developer tooling, automated testing, and the systems that release and monitor the platform.
In this role, you will own features and improvements within defined areas of the UX platform, taking work from requirements and design through implementation, validation, deployment, and production support. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and service teams to solve problems whose improvements benefit applications across OCI.
UI Framework and Reusable Templates
- Design, develop, and maintain shared framework capabilities using TypeScript, JavaScript, Preact, and Oracle JET. Build reusable solutions that help service teams deliver functionality without duplicating UI infrastructure.
- Extend configuration-driven templates and components for resource lists, details pages, forms, settings, charts, and interactive visualizations. Translate product requirements and Redwood designs into documented, tested capabilities.
- Improve the runtime behavior connecting configuration, application state, user actions, and API data. Investigate issues involving rendering, data dependencies, navigation, validation, and asynchronous updates.
- Evolve template APIs and TypeScript contracts with attention to compatibility across consuming plugins. Work with senior engineers to assess architectural tradeoffs and provide clear adoption guidance for changes.
Developer Tools and Platform Adoption
- Improve the UXE command-line tools, configuration compiler, generated API utilities, and type definitions used to build and maintain Console plugins. Make development workflows easier to understand, validate, and debug.
- Develop validation and diagnostic capabilities that help engineers identify configuration errors, unsupported patterns, and integration problems before deployment.
- Help service teams adopt Redwood templates and migrate existing Console experiences. Identify gaps in shared capabilities, implement reusable fixes, and verify that migrated workflows preserve required functionality.
- Contribute to AI-assisted configuration authoring, migration, and validation tools. Evaluate generated output against framework contracts and real application behavior, and add regression coverage for confirmed failure patterns.
- Maintain practical documentation, examples, and troubleshooting guidance. Turn recurring support questions into improvements to platform APIs, tooling, and developer experience.
Console Integration and User Experience
- Integrate UXE capabilities with Console navigation, routing, feature flags, and tenancy, compartment, and region context. Work across framework and plugin boundaries to deliver predictable behavior.
- Develop reliable API interactions, including dependent requests, pagination, loading states, error handling, and cancellation. Diagnose integration failures across configuration, generated clients, framework code, and service responses.
- Collaborate with design and accessibility partners to deliver usable, consistent interfaces. Implement keyboard interaction, accessible labeling, localization support, and clear validation and error feedback.
- Profile and improve rendering, request execution, and resource usage. Validate optimizations against representative workflows and datasets while preserving correctness and compatibility.
Testing, Releases, and Reliability
- Build and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for shared framework features and consuming workflows. Reproduce reported defects and add focused coverage that prevents their recurrence.
- Contribute to automated release validation and synthetic monitoring that exercise Console and plugin functionality. Improve test reliability and distinguish application regressions from test or environment failures.
- Participate in packaging, versioning, and releasing shared libraries, runtime plugins, and configuration assets. Validate dependency compatibility and support staged deployments, controlled feature enablement, and rollback.
- Improve build and deployment automation across OCI regions and realms. Investigate failures involving artifacts, configuration delivery, infrastructure, and environment-specific behavior.
- Maintain useful logs, metrics, alarms, and operational runbooks that help engineers detect problems, assess impact, and restore service.
Production Support and Engineering Collaboration
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and investigate framework, configuration, deployment, and plugin integration issues. Use logs, telemetry, source code, and reproducible examples to identify the failing layer and coordinate resolution.
- Work directly with service teams to understand customer impact, communicate findings, and deliver fixes or practical workarounds. Convert recurring incidents into improvements to platform reliability and supportability.
- Independently plan and deliver moderately complex engineering work within established architecture. Break work into reviewable increments, identify dependencies and risks, and escalate decisions that require broader alignment.
- Review code and technical designs in your areas of ownership. Apply secure coding practices, maintain supported dependencies, address vulnerabilities, and share knowledge through documentation, technical discussions, and peer guidance.
