Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direct supervision of the charge nurse and/or the circulating nurse in the room and is primarily responsible for receptionist and clerical duties in the clinical area, including telephone communications, computer systems, record sorting, filing, and distribution.
- Collaborates with the manager, supervisor and materials coordinator to ensure schedule provides adequate time, staff and equipment. Notifies clinical staff of any special equipment or supply requirements.
- Prints daily schedules. Prints and distributes appropriate scheduling and clinical reports as deemed necessary.
- Performs daily audits, reviewing profiles and preliminary billing. Checks for accuracy and refers possible corrections to appropriate personnel. Verifies charges and confirms accuracy of supplies and implants. Removes billing holds as necessary.
- Manages physician block schedule time under direction of the manager.
- Participates in all compliance programs and helps maintain patient confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information.
- Uses positive communication with staff, patients, and families. Proactively disseminates information to keep families, patients and staff informed on key issues and situations. Serves as an advocate for patient rights and responsibilities.
- Demonstrates good communication and telephone skills.
- Demonstrates ability to multitask and keep desk organized.
- Demonstrates ability to work with all office equipment.
- Demonstrates an awareness of all legal and regulatory requirements for personnel in ED/Hospital setting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
What qualifications you will need:
- Previous CNA or Unit Secretary experience - Preferred
- Verbal and written communication skills, including computer data entry keyboard speed at 40 WPM. Organizational skills.
- No Travel Required
