Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position
As a Small Excavators Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Kernersville, located in Kernersville, NC, you will help chart our path forward by implementing a portion of the assembly process in the new factory in Kernersville. In addition, you will:
- Design, procure, and implement tooling and facilities for a portion of the assembly process.
- Determine assembly sequence of events and lead the development of assembly process documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the design engineering team to blend design requirements and manufacturing process capabilities to safely and efficiently deliver quality excavators.
- Collaborate closely with facilities and material flow teams to create an integrated manufacturing system.
- Develop innovative solutions to build a best-in-class manufacturing facility.

- Experience facilitating the design, purchase, and implementation of shop floor tooling and machines
- Experience with manufacturing such as Industrial Engineering standards, SAP, and MES Systems
- Implementing Design for Manufacturability concepts and principles
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross functional teams, especially in a shop-floor environment
- Project Management skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
- Experience with automation and smart connected factory principles
- Experience in multiple areas of manufacturing (assembly/fabrication/paint)
- Experience with line design, value stream mapping, and/or other process mapping tools
- Demonstrated leadership and passion for making things better
- Willingness to challenge historical paradigms and push for innovative, pragmatic alternatives
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field
