Program Summary
KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Job Summary
As an Assistant Fire Chief, you will supervise functional areas within fire protection and firefighting services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of your department, including overseeing firefighters and other staff members, planning training exercises, ensuring equipment and vehicles are properly maintained.
- Plan, develop, review, implement and evaluate department policies.
- Receive guidance, regulations, or procedures from the Fire Chief and disseminates information to subordinates.
- Prepare and schedule assignments of subordinate personnel to operations, training, and fire inspection duties.
- Assist the Fire Chief in developing and implementing an overall company long-term strategic plan involving fire protection.
- Facilitate the fire prevention education program planning, administration, and supervision.
- Review construction plans with engineers and provide technical assistance on fire prevention.
- Identify and review base deficiencies with regard to fire services as well as coordinating with the Fire Chief and other agencies for necessary corrective actions.
- Conduct recurring proficiency training in each functional area of fire protection.
- Conduct a comprehensive on-the-job and proficiency training program.
- Develop emergency response plans and protocols for dealing with natural disasters and other types of emergencies. Conducting fire inspections to ensure compliance with safety codes and standards. Performing public outreach to educate the public about fire prevention measures. Serve as the on-scene commander of a fire/crash scene until relieved by the Fire Chief.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a Secret Security clearance and maintain it for the duration of your employment on this contract. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for this position.
- Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a NACI.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least years of experience in fire service, with a minimum of 3 years as an Assistant Fire Chief or higher.
- Must have certifications from at least one or the following accredited entities: DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
- Must meet the certification requirements within the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Fire Fighter Certification system for a Station Chief (Captain (Supervisory)) as well as the following:
- Fire Officer IV
- Fire Instructor II
- Fire Inspector II
- Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Fire Instructor III certification.
- Fire Inspector III certification.
- Health and Safety Officer certification.
- Incident Safety Officer certification.
