Program Summary
KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Today, we have a workforce of over 6,000 people representing 40 nationalities who perform work on the contract in 10 countries.
Job Summary
As a(n) Environmental Manager, you will report directly to the LOGCAP Senior HSE Manager, or their designee. In this role you will manage environmental programs for compliance, pollution prevention, and/or natural resource protection programs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee statements of work (SOWs) and cost estimates for environmental studies, designs, and projects.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with and investigations of non-compliance issues.
- Establish and manage multiple hazardous waste storage areas (HWSAs), including disposal policies and practices.
- Oversee identification and validation of potential contaminated sites and development / implementation of remedial action plans.
- Be accountable for staff and policies affecting specific programs.
- Handle environmental activities related to overseas DoD military equipment agricultural cleaning operations to include execution of Hazardous Material (HM) Hazardous Waste (HW), and Biological Waste (BW) collection, storage, disposal, and waste minimization and recycling actions, and Hazardous Substances clean up response teams.
- Provide ownership and control of designated Hazardous Waste Storage Areas (HWSA) locations.
- Identify and evaluate disposal contractor operations to ensure compliance with contractual and local government regulations as they apply to the final disposal of waste.
- Perform supervisory and leadership responsibilities for environmental operations.
- Ensure the installation environmental program complies with applicable directives including local country regulations, KBR guidance, Department of Defense (DOD) Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD) policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Compile and publish Environmental Management Program records and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science or other related field and at least 8 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory role. A High School Diploma and an additional 4 years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of HSE programs, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Requires a strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, OSHA, US Army, and host nations.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and improve processes.
- Requires experience mentoring more junior team members.
- Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment to include extreme cold and/or heat.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity from the country/state of residency.
- Must be able to meet EUCOM medical deployment requirements.
- Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Experience working in HSE role on U.S. military bases.
- Experience with operations involving military equipment maintenance operations.
- Safety professional designations (BSCP, OSHA, NEBOSH, etc.).
- Experience working in austere environments.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices, to include OSHA regulations, Army regulations, and host country laws and regulations.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE programs and initiatives.
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.
- Advanced HSE certifications or specialized training in areas such as incident investigation, risk management, or industrial hygiene.
- Demonstrated professional knowledge of European Union (EU) regulatory processes and standards.
