Looking for a qualified candidate to join the MSOC team at the Johnson Space Center. The candidate will perform a variety of Engineering tasks and activities related to the reconfiguration of simulation training systems to support different aspects of human spaceflight. This includes review and updates of requirements for definition of the data interfaces between the International Space Station (ISS) onboard software, the ISS simulators, Visiting Vehicle simulators, and the ISS Mission Control Center (MCC); generation and configuration management of large data sets used to define the data interfaces; analysis of design specifications and development of product specifications and techniques to satisfy interface requirements; real-time problem resolution with the customer; development of Integration and Test processes; perform integration of System components; development of test documentation; test planning and execution. The candidate will work with a large variety of interfaces, generate derivative products and procedures, and deliver those products to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related discipline. The position requires excellent organizational, technical, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and to shift priorities/workload requirements as dictated by programmatic changes. Strong interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required for this position.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with current NASA human spaceflight activities and proposed future vehicles. Understanding of a variety of computer networks and systems. Understanding of database concepts, data analysis techniques and familiarity with database systems. Familiarity with space data and information transfer systems and standards. Familiarity with Configuration Management concepts and systems. Knowledge of Unix/Linux, C++, python, and Microsoft Office products. SQL Plus knowledge is considered a plus. While the candidate will not be required to develop new software, the ability to develop scripts and understand complex real-time interactive software systems and familiarity with operating systems is desired.
