Ensuring your personal safety, the safety of coworkers and customers is an obligation and primary duty. Supports the Maintenance Services Group repairing machinery and mechanical equipment.
Hourly Rate: $33.35
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting, examination of machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose anomalies
- Dismantling machines, as required to diagnose and repair, or adjust, will involve the use of hand tools
- Preparing written specifications for major repairs, repair parts, or for production of required items
- Acquisition of replacement parts from OEM, or OEM approved entity, or manufacturer in machine shop to which specifications have been provided
- Reassembling machines and adjusting as required to ensure proper operation
- Mechanical requirements at LaRC largely involve reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and compressors
Here’s what you’ll need:
U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Six years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade program. Must be able to effectively communicate well with others. CMOE Maintenance employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided resource to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries: as such, it is the most important resource you are required to use.
Essential Functions
Work Environment:
Mechanical Shop environment and equipment rooms – potential exposure to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Many areas where work is required may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation and environment (90%). All safety rules and regulations must always be followed without exception.
Travel between shop and various facilities is required (<10%)
Physical Requirements:
Visual and physical (hands on) contact of mechanical related systems, hardware, articles (50%). Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (20%), body mobility (60%) and ability (where applicable) to distinguish colors. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
Equipment and Machines:
Repair and overhaul a variety of large industrial pumps, valves, gear boxes, cooling towers, hydraulics, air handlers, exhaust fans and other mechanical equipment (90%)
Standard office equipment – PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc. (10%)
Safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) (10%)
Attendance:
Regular attendance is mandatory (100%)
Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (20%)
Other Essential Functions:
U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
