Within the Spectrum News Roku team, you will deliver capabilities that enable our customers to stay up to date on the latest news, weather information, podcasts, closures, and much more.

As a Software Engineer IV - Roku, BrightScript, you’ll be a part of the Roku engineering team that builds and brings our Spectrum News application experience to life for millions of customers.
WHAT OUR SOFTWARE ENGINEER IV ENJOY MOST
- Enjoy working alongside a passionate and collaborative group of engineers and enablement team partners
- Design and implement new functionality with limited oversight and guidance, following Roku best practices and approved code patterns using BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph SDK
- Work directly with Roku and provide feedback on new OS features, hardware, and more
- Stay up-to-date on the latest software implementation patterns and trends, applying them to the platform as needed
- Collaborate alongside other connected device and web application teams to deliver innovative new features, including the Spectrum TV team
- Lead feature implementation and bug remediation
- Mentor other engineers, lead code review, debugging sessions, and automated test implementation
- Provide LOE on projects and lead technical direction of the Spectrum News Roku application
- Work within an Agile Scrum environment
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Database management systems – 2-4+ years
- Coding, testing, and designing software – 2-4+ years
- Software development methodologies – 2-4+ years
- Education:
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of one major programming language/tool
- Demonstrated knowledge of coding language and syntax, usage of functions and object-oriented patterns
- Demonstrated knowledge of environments, docker images, container runtimes, and cloud native app development
- Demonstrated knowledge of dependent systems, e.g., up/downstream APIs, clients, data stores
- Demonstrated knowledge of design patterns and software architecture patterns
- Skills:
- Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Functional negotiation skills
- Showcases Project / Feature level work to their team and senior technical leadership
- Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
- Ability to break down assigned projects into manageable tasks and completes within a given timeframe
- Ability to work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors

- 2+ Years of experience developing Roku applications using BrightScript
- Exposure to Roku SceneGraph SDK
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead implementation of new features and functionality
- The desire to work on a highly collaborative and interactive team

The base pay for this position generally is between
$88,200.00 and $156,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
